SPECIAL INTERESTS
I research and teach in the areas of African American Politics, urban politics public policy, and social movements. My current research agenda is to explore the political, sociological, and ideological ramifications of changes in the post-Civil Rights Movement African American community. Towards that ends, I am finishing a book manuscript, Now is the Time: Detroit Black Politics and Opportunities for Grassroots Activism, 1967-1997, under contract with Duke University Press. I am co-autoring a series of articles and an eventual book project on black attitudinal and behavioral manifestations of Black Nationalism. Lastly, I am beginning research that considers the racial dynamics of African American political dialogue within post-9/11 multicutural America.
