Minor in Classical Studies

A minor in classical studies consists of 18 credit hours of prescribed courses as follows:

Required (9 hours):
CLAS 586 Classical Mythology (3)
and
Six hours of Greek or Latin at the 300-level or above.


Electives (9 hours):
Choose 1 of the following courses:
CPLT 301 Great Books of the Western World I
CLAS 240 Sport & Combat in the Ancient World
CLAS 320 Sexuality and Gender in Ancient Greece
CLAS 321 Sexuality, Gender, & Power in Ancient Rome
CLAS 401 Greek and Latin Literature in Translation


Choose 1 of the following courses:
HIST 502 Greek History and Civilization to 146 B.C.
HIST 503 The History of Rome, 753-27 B.C.
HIST 504 The Roman Empire, 27 B.C.-A.D. 480


Choose 1 of the following courses:
ARTH 313 History of Roman Art
PHIL 303 Greek and Roman Philosophy after Aristotle
PHIL 505 Plato
PHIL 506 Aristotle
RELG 302 New Testament
RELG 312 The Life and Letters of Paul

Courses not listed here that are pertinent to Classical Studies may be used upon approval of the program director.
