SPEECH COMMUNICATION & RHETORIC
Minor in Speech Communication & Rhetoric
The minor in Speech Communication & Rhetoric provides students with the skills, knowledge, and experiences vital to being effective producers and consumers of communication.
The diversity of courses offered in the program span from traditional training in public speaking, to studies of political arguments and debates, to analysis of how we communicate through our visual representations, behaviors, and cultural practices.
Our courses provide students majoring in any discipline
with opportunities to
- improve oral communication skills;
- prepare presentations;
- analyze and evaluate messages;
- design and respond to arguments in a variety of settings;
- explore creative and aesthetic modes of oral communication.
Curriculum Requirements (18 hours):
- Eighteen (18) credit hours in Communication & Rhetoric
- Nine (9) of those 18 credit hours must be in courses numbered 300 or higher
