Career InformationStudents in English learn to analyze literary and non-literary texts, to conduct research, to draw conclusions, and to write and communicate clearly and persuasively. Because they develop a variety of desirable skills for many kinds of jobs, English majors have successful careers in such diverse areas as education, law, publishing, and business. Many continue their studies in graduate and professional schools. With this flexibility in career choices comes the responsibility for shaping one's course of study and extra-curricular activities in order to develop a career, rather than mechanically completing requirements for some pre-determined career.
