Teaches military history, with special emphasis on war and society in the modern age outside of the United States.

Professor MacKenzie regularly offers undergraduate and graduate courses on the Evolution of Warfare, War and Society, Modern Europe, and, on occasion, Contemporary Britain as well as War, Film, Television and Society. His book publications include: Bader’s War (2008); The Battle of Britain on Screen (2007); British War Films, 1939- 1945 (2000/2006); The Colditz Myth (2004); Revolutionary Armies in the Modern Era (1997); The Home Guard (1995); and Politics and Military Morale (1992).

Current Activities

I am currently working on a comparison of the twin battles of Kapyong and the Imjin during the Korean War; the British POW experience in the Korean war; and the British Army as a primary subject in British television series over the past fifty years.
