Teaches nineteenth century American history and History of the American West.


Dr. Pratt recently published the book Shipshewana: An Indiana Amish Community, (through the Indiana University Press), which focused on issues of assimilation in a community that has successfully forestalled incorporation into a larger society.

Current Activities

Her Present project continues the theme of defining insider/outsider groups through a study of the Mississippi Constitutional Conventions of 1890.
