Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the French Revolution, Napoleonic Era, the
Napoleonic wars (with attention to the impact of the armies on French and European society)
and European Historiography.
Professor Connelly is the author of ten books, including Napoleon’s Satellite Kingdoms .

and On War and Leadership: The Words of Combat Commanders from Frederick the
Great to Norman Schwarzkopf (2002).
Current Activities:
My most recent book , Wars of the French Revolution and Napoleon is at press
(Routledge, Oxford). Next I will prepare Blundering to Glory for a new edition.
This spring, I will present a paper on the Vendée (peasant) Rebellion of 1793-94 at the
Consortium on Revolutionary Europe and chair a session at the annual meeting of the
Society for Military History.
