Dr. James T. Myers has built
an international reputation as a China scholar since he arrived at USC in 1967
with a doctorate in political science from George Washington University, and a
certificate in Mandarin Chinese from Yale's Institute for Far Eastern
Languages.
The author, editor or
coauthor of 11 books and scores of scholarly articles--principally in the field
of contemporary Chinese politics-- Myers is a member of the National Committee
on U.S.-China Relations and a board member of the American Association for
Chinese Studies. He is collaborating with two other internationally respected
scholars--Professor Jurgen Domes from Germany's Saarland University and Dr.
Milton Yeh of Taipei's Institute of International Relations--on a
Sino-American-German documentary project on Mainland Chinese politics. When
completed (four volumes have been published so far), the work will be a
comprehensive, English-language translation of documents critical to
understanding the political history of the People's Republic of China.
