The following speakers will address the Palmetto Forum in the spring of 2008

Our guest speaker will be The Honorable Peter Beattie, the former Premier of Queensland, Australia, who is currently a scholar in residence at the Walker Institute. Mr. Beattie was a leader of the Labour Party in Queensland and was widely considered a populist, a reformer, and a progressive. While in office, he pressed forward a number of important reforms in education and economic development that elevated both the stature of Queensland and the well-being of its citizens. At the Palmetto Forum on April 2, Peter Beattie will compare challenges facing his country with similar challenges facing ours. His topic: “Moving Australia into the 21st Century.”
