McKissick Museum serves as a resource for students, researchers, groups, and individuals seeking to learn more about South Carolina and the Southeast's culture, environment, and history. The Museum's collections, exhibitions, and publications, as well as the Folklife Resource Center, all serve as publicly-available research tools, and additional learning opportunities can be gained through Museum membership.
McKissick is open to the public free of charge, six days a week. Visits to the Museum are self-guided. However, we ask that groups of 10 or more call the Museum at 803-777-7251 at least two weeks in advance to notify us of your plans. Guided tours of current exhibitions may be arranged with advance notice.
To bring the Museum into your classroom, several educator guides, developed from original McKissick exhibitions, are available for purchase.
