Opening Day
10:30-11:45 Tour of the exhibition with basket maker Nakia Wigfall and curator Dale Rosengarten.
12:00-1:00 Talk by Peter H. Wood of Duke University, author of Black Majority as well as Strange New Land and the textbook Created Equal.
1:00 – 3:00 Special viewing of the acclaimed new film Grass Roots: The Enduring Art of the Lowcountry Basket, directed by Dana Sardet. 
3:00-3:45 Tour of the exhibition basket maker Nakia Wigfall and curator Dale Rosengarten.

Saturday, April 17, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Basket Day
Basket makers from the Charleston area demonstrating and selling handcrafted baskets on the historic USC Horseshoe.

Sweet Grass Sundays

The museum is open extended hours for an additional opportunity to experience Grass Roots

Join us for our annual spring fundraising programI Participants will enjoy tours of a local garden in the University Hill district, nature talks by Rudy Mancke, and light refreshments.

Tickets are $75 each. Proceeds benefit the McKissick Museum at the University of South Carolina.
