Post-Doctoral Fellows Program
SCIAA hosts a Post-doctoral Fellows Program dedicated to exploring cutting-edge themes in archaeology. Fellows are selected
on the basis of annually revolving topics developed by SCIAA. In 2009-2010 that topic is From Field To Table: Historical Ecology of Regional Subsistence Strategies. Fellows will be asked to teach one course with the Department of Anthropology and to develop a conference related to the annual theme.
The purpose of the conference is to attract leading scholars worldwide in that specialty to present papers and engage in stimulating discussion sessions.
Conferences are modest in size, 15 to 20 persons, to encourage an intimate atmosphere. Working with the University of South Carolina Press, the post-doctoral
Fellow will publish an edited volume from the conference proceedings.
Post-doctoral Fellows are 11-month appointments, on an August 15 to July 15 cycle. Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. prior to the initial appointment date.
Fellows are full-time employees with the university, with attendant benefits.
Additional information about the 2010 Post-Doctoral Fellows Conference is located on the conference web page:
