Professors' Original Play, Flight, Premieres in NYC

Theatre Professors Steven Pearson and Robyn Hunt have taken their original play Flight to NYC's Connelly Theatre for a three-week run, March 23 - April 10.
Workshopped at the university in two separate productions over 2009-2010, Flight is described as "an intriguing, aerial theatrical work, a play about women fliers before World War I, based on real individuals and historic events of the early 20th century." The play is the third in a trilogy of works based on the plays of Anton Chekhov that integrate art, history, and science with powerful, physically demanding performance. Flight takes inspiration from Chekhov's The Seagull. Pearson conceived and directed, and Hunt wrote the text for the production.
Performing in Flight are original cast members Robyn Hunt and Lee Fitzpatrick, along with theatre alumni Jen Burry (MFA 2009), Eric Bultman (MFA 2009) and Will Shuler (BA, 2010). Brian Hanscom (MFA 2009) is assistant director and dramaturg for the production. Costume Design is by Associate Professor Lisa Martin-Stuart and Sound Design is by Assistant Professor Walter Clissen.
The NYC run of Flight was made possible by a Creative Achievement Grant from the College of Arts and Sciences.
