USC anthropologist Karl Heider is one of the world's most esteemed
Southeast Asia scholars and an authority on Indonesian and ethnographic
film. Throughout the spring semester, USC filmmaker and professor
of
Media Arts Laura Kissel will collaborate with Karen Nakamura,
an
ethnographic filmmaker and professor of Anthropology at Yale
University,
to produce a new DVD of Heider's films, with new commentary
and
interviews with Dr. Heider and his colleagues. The DVD
will be
presented to Heider during a symposium which will highlight
his
contributions to the field of Visual Anthropology.
