Founded in 1766 by Moravian settlers from Germany, Old Salem is a restored congregation town with

 72 historic structures,

 27 reconstructions, and numerous exhibit buildings 

covering 21 city blocks. 

Thousands of visitors from around the world tour the restored Moravian community annually.
