Non-Profit Pediatric Dental Centers

Community-based, non-profit organizations are often the only frontline defense of services in many areas of rural South Carolina. Commun-I-Care has demonstrated to be such an organization. Recognizing the overwhelming need of poor children for dental care, Commun-I-Care, in partnership with indigenous community partners, responded. Ken Trogden, Chief Executive Officer of Commun-I-Care, manages pediatric dental clinics in the school districts serving the towns of Manning, Dillon, Allendale and Summerton. Through grants and benefactors, dental clinics have been opened on the grounds of these school districts. They are meeting the needs of poor, isolated children, who otherwise would go without dental care. Their story is profiled in this segment.
