Charles Rosen is credited for having designed what might be the most famous thoroughfare in the world, Sesame Street. He is one of film’s most distinguished production designers, lending his talents to films from such moviemakers as Richard Donner, Martin Scorsese, Philip Kaufman, James L. Brooks, Garry Marshall and Jonathan Demme.
Born in New York City and a graduate of the Yale Drama School, Rosen was a movie buff that yearned to be a set designer since the age of twelve. Breaking into the industry in the burgeoning world of television, he designed the sets for such programs as The Jack Paar Show and Sing Along with Mitch. He is one of the most sought after designers on both coasts, and his select film credits include Charly, The Producers, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Big Wednesday, The Main Event, Flashdance, and Broadcast News. He also served as art director on Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver.
