We are pleased to announce an opportunity to honor
the life and work of Charles R. (Randy) Mack, who retires in December
2005. Here at USC, we are seeking to fund an annual stipend in
his name, to benefit outstanding students in the History of Art. If
you are interested in supporting this scholarship, please contact
us at 803.777.4236, or you may mail a check to:
USC Department of Art
1615 Senate Street
Columbia, SC 29208
In the memo section please include "Mack Scholarship Fund."
For SECAC Members
You probably know that Randy is far more than just SECAC’s
former president. He has been a tireless mentor to countless students
and colleagues and a part of SECAC’s collective heart and
soul for many years. SECAC will always be a part of Randy. For
this reason, we are looking beyond the bounds of our small university
community - Randy’s life and commitments have always reached
far beyond this campus. We are asking for your help.
Some who have given donations in honor of Randy have chosen to
remain anonymous; others prefer to have their names inscribed on
a special gift for him: a scroll listing the names and institutions
of SECAC members, grouped according to the year they initially
joined. If you would like your name included, simply check the
box on the donation form. Of course the list will not record any
amounts, and gifts of all sizes will be gratefully accepted. The
scroll will undoubtedly bring a broad smile to his face.
We hope you will join the USC Art Department in honoring SECAC’s
lifetime friend.
Dr. Mack Scholarship Dinner
An Evening
in Tuscany
On October 1st, the Department of Art hosted a true Renaissance
feast in honor of Dr. Charles Mack and his unending dedication
to the University of South Carolina Department of Art.
The evening included Renaissance music, good chianti and a great
talk by Dr. Tim Smith, University of South Carolina alumni and
one of Dr. Mack's former students.
This event raised $11,000 towards a scholarship in Dr. Mack's
name.
