WILLIAM TSUTSUI

The classic film Godzilla and other Japanese “monster movies” have served as icons of Japanese pop culture for the past 50 years. As an Asian Arts Week visiting lecturer, William Tsutsui will lecture about Godzilla and the monster movie genre, globalizing Japanese pop-culture and Japanese popular cultural history. The author of Godzilla On My Mind (2004), Dr. Tsutsui is Associate Professor of History at the University of Kansas and is a specialist in modern Japanese business and economic history. He holds degrees from Harvard, Oxford, and Princeton universities.
