Census Report

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Census has been conducted periodically since the 1980s to collect data from South Carolina State and local law enforcement agencies. The 2004 Census, a collaborative project between the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, solicited information regarding personnel, budgets, salaries, equipment, policies, and important contemporary issues ranging from community policing to terrorism.

Two reports and an addendum are available for download in Adobe Acrobat
format. One is a short summary document that provides highlights from the 2004
Census. The other is the full report that also includes the highlights. The
addendum includes information on the number of sworn employees per 10,000
residents for each responding agency.
