Doctoral applicants must submit the following:
- Electronic application with The Graduate School at http://www.gradschool.sc.edu/futurestudents/index.html
- Personal statement (500-1000 words) describing your prior education, relevant work experience, criminal justice interests and purpose in pursuing a doctoral degree in criminology and criminal justice at the University of South Carolina.
- Three letters of recommendation from faculty members or others capable of assessing your academic potential for graduate studies.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores for both the verbal and quantitative sections.
- Official grade transcripts from each of your prior institutions.
- Writing Sample (Course Paper written during your previous degree program, include course number, date, and name of professor or an alternative writing sample)**
The DEADLINE for
submission of all application materials for doctoral applicants is January 15 th for full consideration of funding and May 31 st for all other applicants.
**All application contents should be submitted to the USC Graduate School with the exception of the writing sample. The writing sample should be sent directly to Criminology and Criminal Justice Graduate Director at:
