Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice

  • Students on a bench talking in front of Currell College.
  • Policy and Practice

Confronting crime today means understanding what crime is, why it happens and how the justice system can intervene effectively.

The University of South Carolina’s Criminology and Criminal Justice Department uses applied sociological concepts to explain crime and inform policy and practices, including theories that relate to social justice. We prepare students to address the challenges of crime and justice in society as criminal justice professionals, researchers and educators.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
