Course DescriptionA thorough introduction to statistics for elementary, middle, and high school teachers. The course educates instructors how to teach their students in data collection, descriptive statistics, probability, and inference as found in the state educational standards, with a special focus on methods of teaching statistical reasoning. (Not intended for undergraduate degree credit, or for non-M.A.T. degree programs in mathematics or statistics.) The participant must demonstrate use of the scientific method and proficiency with the metric system by passing the certified Metric Exam. This is an online course and therefore no travel to the USC campus is necessary. |

GoalTo provide preservice and in-service teachers with the knowledge base and appropriate experiences needed to teach data analysis and probability concepts at the middle grades. |
