USC DANCE CONSERVATORY
presents
YOUNG GIRLS IN EUROPE

April 25-26, 2008
Koger Center for the Arts
April 25-26, the USC Dance Conservatory is proud to present “Young Girls in Europe” at the Koger Center.
Young Girls in Europe tells the story of a teenage American girl who goes to Paris to meet Parisian school girls, and travel through Europe with them. Through their travels in Paris, they meet butterflies, flowers, and bumblebees in Le Jardin (the Garden), and they enter the Louvre Museum. In the museum, Degas paintings come alive, as ballerinas dance gracefully and hauntingly out of their frames. From the Louvre the girls hop on their bus and travel to Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and Russia, where they meet and dance with native friends. They return to Paris, and are entertained at the Moulin Rouge, before our American girl must return home, leaving behind her new European friends, but taking with her, lovely memories of her trip!
A cast of 100 children will participate in the performance of Young Girls in Europe. Choreography for the performance is by Susan Anderson, Marissa Freeman, Anna Logan, Lindsey Shatzer, Kerrie Anne Dunn, Talin Kenar, and English Nye. (Lindsey, Kerrie Anne and English are all USC undergraduates; Talin is a guest artist from the Columbia Classical Ballet.)
Anna Grace Fisher will be dancing the lead role of the American Girl. Anna Grace is a senior at Irmo High School and has been a student at the USC Dance Conservatory for 5 years. Anna Grace will be entering USC next fall as a Freshman Dance Major.
The USC Dance Conservatory offers classes to students ages 3-18 years old.
