| Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Advising, Natural Sciences
With interests spanning sciences and the arts, Dr. Loren Knapp serves the academic and curricular needs of students with majors in the Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences. He is by training a biologist (Ph. D., University of Chicago 1980) with research and intellectual interests in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology, as well as the histories of those disciplines. His most recent work has extended his normal research interests beyond development and morphogenesis of the vertebrate integument and towards the frontiers of evolutionary biology, particularly with regard to the origin of feathers in birds and their reptilian ancestors. He is married with children and grandchildren, enjoys world travel, reading, music, art, and follows closely the impact of science and technology on modern society.
