On Tuesday, April 12 the College of Arts and Sciences hosted the 2011 Townsend Lecture, featuring the New York Times bestselling author, Tony Horwitz as guest speaker. The event, "An Evening with Tony Horwitz, author of Confederates in the Attic", was held in the Lumpkin Auditorium in the Moore School of Business.

Horwitz was interviewed on stage by noted professor of history and director of the Institute for Southern Studies, Dr. Walter Edgar. The informal dialogue was filled with engaging anecdotes and witty banter which delighted the packed auditorium.
