The GEGEO Program is sponsored by funding from the energy industry. Marathon Oil became a Full Sponsor of the GEGEO Program in 2006, and with their 2009 sponsorship, it will have provided $900,000 for the program

Dr. David H. Rembert, Jr. completed his baccalaureate (1959) and masters (1964) degrees in Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the University of Kentucky at Lexington in 1967. He has taught at the University of South Carolina from 1967 until his retirement in July 1998. During his tenure at the University, he was promoted through the academic ranks to full professor and at his retirement, he was appointed Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences. David also served on most University committees and chaired many. His administrative duties at Carolina include service as the first assistant dean of the new College of Science and Mathematics established in 1972 out of the old College of Arts and Science. He also served as Associate Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences from 1987 to 1993, and in 1993, he returned as Associate Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and served until his retirement in 1998. After his retirement, David was called back into service by the president to serve as Interim University Registrar for seven months in 1999. During the fall semester of 2003, he was again called to duty, this time as Interim Dean of Admission of the University School of Law.

Mr. D. Michael Kelly received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1974, and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law three years later. Mike has received many awards throughout his career, including the Public Citizen Award from the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and The Compleat Lawyer Award from his alma mater, the University of South Carolina. Mike had the privilege of serving two terms as President of the Richland County Bar, the largest local Bar in South Carolina and in 1999 to 2000 as President of the entire South Carolina Bar. He is currently the Co-Chair of the University of South Carolina Law School Building Fund Campaign. A staunch backer of the community, he has been of invaluable help to the Arts and is the past Chair of the Cultural Council for Richland and Lexington County, and is an avid supporter of the University of South Carolina Department of Theatre and Dance.

Mr. Charlton F. Hall, Jr. received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1959, and is the owner of Charlton Hall Galleries, Inc. of Columbia, one of the nation’s leading auction houses for fine art and antiques.
