Carla Grimes
Carla Grimes regularly teaches FREN 310 (advanced oral communication) and F316 (Business French). She also supervises FREN 307 (advanced oral practice), a course she created. Her contributions to the M.A.T. include creating and teaching FREN 510 (French current events). She served as acting director of the Russian Program in 1989-90. She was also the IMBA director for the French track.
She taught Russian at L’Ecole d’Interprètes Internationaux, at the Université de Mons in Belgium. She also taught French at Appalachian State University and contributed to French summer courses at Laval University. She has given presentations on the verbo-tonal system of phonetical correction and presented research in syntax, phonology and second language acquisition at regional and national conferences and in Canada. Her areas of interest in second language acquisition are syntactic priming and comprehensible input.
