Paul Malovrh

Dr. Malovrh specializes in SLA, applied Hispanic linguistics, and foreign language pedagogy. Working within a cognitive framework, he investigates interlanguage development and the underlying psycholinguistic strategies constraining it. In his new book, Processing, Production, and Placement: The Second Language Acquisition of Object Pronouns in Spanish (forthcoming, 2012), he examines the stages of form-function mapping guiding development by comparing language comprehension with oral production. More recently, Professor Malovrh’s research explores metacognitive strategies in the development of foreign-language oral proficiency and investigates the effects of formal instruction. He has lived throughout Latin America and has directed USC’s study abroad program in Costa Rica.
