People
The core of the CISA team consists of the principal investigators and research associates and assistants. The team's central offices are located in the University of South Carolina's Department of Geography, but CISA's institutional bases include other University of South Carolina departments, the Southeast Regional Climate Center, and the North and South Carolina Sea Grant Consortiums.
The success of the research undertaken, however, depends on the productive relationships we have established with our collaborating partners. Representing both stakeholders and researchers, these partnerships include activities ranging from research and outreach to consultation and information sharing on emerging climate issues. We seek synergy, not duplication, in these partnerships. We view our role as a RISA to identify user needs for climate information, to conduct research that is shaped by and done in collaboration with users, and to establish an iterative process that refines our investigations, leads to effective communication of results and long-term access to decision-support tools where appropriate.
The members of the advisory committee provide helpful guidance as they regularly review CISA's work.
