Jessica Chassereau, a PhD Student in EOS, won first place in the poster presentation at Graduate Student Day held Friday, April 8th.
Gary Grunseich, M.S candidate in the Department of Earth and Ocean
Sciences was awarded 2011-2012 South Carolina Space Grant Graduate
Research Award.
The USC Imperial Barrel Award Team (Gamecock Energy), placed second in the Eastern U.S. Section of AAPG in this annual international competition (http://www.aapg.org/iba/). USC came in an exceedingly close second to Indiana University. Team members included:

- Undergraduate student, Emily Graham, CAS student
of the month for September 2008 [http://www.cas.sc.edu/ugrad/student.html].
- Students from USC-Geophysical Society and University of Puerto Rico at
Mayaguez Geophysical Society participated in a joint project sponsored by the
Society of Exploration Geophysicists. This project involved assessment of
several geologic and environmental issues on the island of Puerto Rico using our
in-house Ground Penetrating Radar system. Participating USC personnel included
Melvin Fillerup, Antonio Cameron, Chance Amos, and Dr.
Robert Trenkamp. Faculty advisors for the two organizations are Dr.
Camelia Knapp (USC), and Dr. Eugenio Asencio (Assistant Professor at
the University of Puerto Rico and USC alumni).
- Andrea Hougham, Outstanding Student Talk Award at the 2008 Ocean
Sciences Meeting in Orlando, Florida, March 2008.
- Rosendo King Riloha was selected as a 2008 Magellan
Scholar from USC's Office of Undergraduate Research.
