Data linked on these associated pages includes sources not collected by or stored on a USC server. Our goal is to make available digital data that can be freely distributed to our University community - and beyond. Some data referenced may not be available for download due to contractual licensing restrictions. These data, for the most part, are still available to on-campus users via Campus Network Authentication procedures. Each restricted download will be preceeded with .
In addition, much of our data are now considerably out-of-date and metadata sketchy. We appreciate all user contributions that can be freely and legally shared.
Generally speaking, layers that pertain to SC are stored in a UTM coordinate system (meters) based on NAD83 datum. Most non-SC data are stored in geographic coordinates based on a WGS84 reference. Every attempt has been made to ensure the correctness of metadata, but the Campus GIS Center makes no guarantees as to the quality, appropriate use or accuracy of the contents of any data obtained from our server - regretably.
To download data from this server: Use the left scrolling index to find your topic. On the right side of the resulting page, scroll to find the layer of interest. Note that the left-most column will be a live link if the data is available for off-campus download. Files are served (for the most part) as zipped files. If you get a "page unavailable" or other browser errors, please report them to me at lynn@sc.edu, as well as any comments and suggestions.
