ESRI Keycode Requests

NOTE: In order to run a hardware dongled version of ArcGIS 9.x, you must have both: 1) a network card and 2) TCPIP enabled.

When requesting new License Files for ArcGIS please make sure to specify the following:
  • OS (unix, NT, etc.)
  • Make and model of machine (i.e. Dell Optiplex 320)
  • Serial number of machine (not USC number, not serial # of hardware key)
  • Network or Machine Name (e.g. geog1, marsh)
  • HostID (unix) or ESRI Sentinel Key # (Windows)
  • When requesting renewals for existing License Files you only need specify the following:

  • Network or Machine Name
  • HostID (unix) or ESRI Sentinel Key # (Windows)

  • Unless otherwise specified the same ESRI applications will be re-licensed as previously obtained, although this can easily be changed.

ArcGIS software CDs can be obtained from the Campus GIS Support program in the Geography Dept., Callcott room 321. Phone Kevin Remington at 777-0957 or Lynn Shirley at 777-4590 for questions.

  • In order to run ArcGIS you must either: 1) be able to see (on the network) a machine that is a license manager or 2) obtain a hardware key / dongle. These can be purchased ($40 each) from Lynn. This device, along with a license file you will receive via email from ESRI will unlock the software for a year (July 1-June 31st basis). We strongly encourage you to use the Campus license server (129.252.3.16) in lieu of purchasing the dongle - if at all possible.
