The Training Facility at the Dept. of Geography - U.S.C.

The training facility is equipped with 15 Dell Optiplex 330 machines for the attendees and an instructor's station. Specs are:
Intel Core Duo E4600 - 2.4GHz
4 gig RAM
160 gig HD
16x DVD+/-RW SATA drive
256mb ATI Radeon graphics card
17" FP color monitors

The room also features a permanently mounted high-intensity overhead projection system, complete with audio-video connections and VCR player. A remote mouse system is available also.


This room is scheduled only for training sessions and specialized demonstrations/meetings requiring these resources. The room itself can be rented for instruction consistent with the intended use of promoting the understanding and use of the mapping sciences.

Rates for use of the classroom are $70/hour, with a three (3) hour minimum. The maximum rental for a 12 hour period is $700. These fees will gain you access to the computers and other equipment in the room, as well as all installed software.** If you need addition software installed or specialized configurations the Geography Department will carry out those requests for a flat fee of $125. Other services are negotiable.

** Installed software includes : Microsoft Office Suite Professional, ArcGIS 9.x, the Adobe suite as well as various other industry standard applications. Administrative rights to the machines are granted for any customization necessary.
