Regional Sustainability Coordinators Conference

Sustainable Carolina is proud to invite all college and university sustainability coordinators, facility and energy managers to attend an energy focused sustainability conference at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus.  The half day workshop is scheduled for Friday, January 20th.The conference will offer multiple workshops addressing a variety of issues often faced by sustainability coordinators on their campuses.  Regional and national industry experts will be discussing issues such as:

  • Carbon Tracking
  • Energy Modeling & Solutions
  • Green Revolving Loan Funds
  • Utility Rebate Programs

This conference is designed as an add-on to the currently scheduled regional EcoReps conference, which begins that Friday and continues until Sunday, January 22nd.  Attendees are encouraged to attend the workshops on Friday and those schools with EcoReps programs can stay for the remainder of the weekend.  EcoReps Conference will bring together student EcoReps and staff advisors from several colleges and universities in the region.  Planned for the conference is a trip to a local farmer’s market, a community service activity, and workshops on topics ranging from “Working with your Administration” to “Holding a Carbon Neutral Athletics Event.”  This conference will be the first of its kind in the region. In order to apply, please contact Michael Koman (komanmd@fmc.sc.edu) by December 29th and provide information on your institution, your title, and the number of colleagues arriving with you, if any.  Also, if you are planning on attending the Eco-Reps conference, please indicate so.  Though this is a last minute addition to the Eco-Rep conference, attendees may participate in just the energy sessions.  There is no charge for attending the conference.  A complete agenda will be sent out January 10th. Thank you. Additional Information on the EcoReps Conference can be found at: http://www.housing.sc.edu/sus_news.html Accommodations can be made at the Courtyard Marriott on Assembly St, where rooms are set aside under the group name “Office of Sustainability”.
