A new community garden is being developed on the Preston Green between Woodrow and Preston Halls; adjacent to Mrs. Patricia Moore-Pastides’ vegetable garden. The garden will consist of 21 raised beds that measure 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 16 inches tall. The plots are available to students, faculty, staff, and organizations on a semester long rental agreement. We recommend that a minimum of 4 individuals work together to rent and work a plot. Plots will be available for rent during the three planting seasons: Fall (September – December), Summer (May – August), and Spring (January – April). Plots can be rented for multiple seasons, but must be renewed every season. Those who choose to participate will be able to manage and grow a variety of crops. Vegetables that can be grown include tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, and squash—just to name a few. Herbs for healthy cooking include parsley, basil, oregano, thyme, and sage. Water spigots and hoses will be located throughout the garden to help facilitate plant hydration. This is the perfect time to drop by at lunch and do some planting and even ask the staff to help.To Find Out More Please visit: http://campusrec.sc.edu/orec/carolinacommunitygarden/
