Seed Starters! with Matt Kip

Join local community permaculturalist Matt Kip and the Sustainable Carolina Food Team with a seed-starter workshop at the Horsehoe Greenhouse.  We will be exploring the basics of in-home gardening as Matt presents the fundamentals: chosing which seeds to plant, how the greenhouse works, and how to keep up with your garden.  At the workshop, participants will be planting seeds and obtaining the knowledge to begin their own garden.

Sustainable Carolina's Food Team has been bringing students, staff, faculty and community members into greater involvment in agriculture since 2006.  In addition to managing the original campus community garden, the Food Team has expanded to support gardens and operations across campus.  Most recently, the instalation of composting stations in selected dining stations is being extended across campus. 

 

Kip's presentation marks an importan expansion of Sustainable Carolina programs into campus environmental spaces, demonstrating a continuing committment to furthering healthy enviromental practices at Carolina and beyond.
