Stomp to the Stadium

In honor of Moving the Planet Day, Sustainable Carolina is hosting Stomp to the Stadium on September 24.  This is a fun new initiative to promote green values and healthy living. Bring your parents and meet at the Green Quad learning center at 5:30 PM to start the walk to Williams-Brice Stadium for the Vanderbilt football game

Join hundreds of Gamecock fans in heading down to Williams-Brice Stadium using alternative transportation….their feet!  Sustainable Carolina is leading students, faculty and visitors to "Stomp to the Stadium" on September 24.  Bring your parents, bring a friend and meet at the Green Quad Learning Center at 5:30 PM to start the walk to Williams-Brice for the Vanderbilt football game.  “Stomp to the Stadium” is part of national “Moving the Planet Day,” a worldwide rally to move beyond fossil fuels and demand real solutions to the climate crisis (http://www.moving-planet.org/ ).

The goal is to get moving beyond fossil fuels—both symbolically by pouring into the streets in the thousands on foot, bicycle and other means of sustainable movement, and politically by bringing powerful demands to our leaders that day to move beyond fossil fuels to a 350ppm carbon dioxide world.

The global fossil fuel infrastructure is polluting our oceans, our land, our communities, our air, and our lungs.  The continued burning of coal and oil is what will tip climate change into climate catastrophe - getting off fossil fuels is the number one thing we need to do to get below 350ppm.

Go Gamecocks!
