The History Department Colloquium offers an opportunity for faculty and students at the Univeristy of South Carolina to build community and share their work. The colloquium series also supports the invitation of 2-3 outside speakers each year.
In 2009-2010, the colloquiua will be held monthly throughout the academic year. Two different formats are supported. Papers can be pre-circulated and the colloquium itself consists of a discussion of the paper with only a brief introduction from the paper's author; discussion will be based on the assumption that participants have read the paper in advance. In other instances, a speaker will give an oral talk with an extensive Q&A. Check the this site to determine which format any given colloquium will use, what the date and time are, and where it will be held.
Papers for discussion are available on this website and hard copies can be picked up from the main office in 245 Gambrell Hall. If you would like to attend and need the password for the papers, please send an email to Ann Johnson at annj@sc.edu. Thanks for your interest and hope to see you at a colloquium soon!
