Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the French Revolution, Napoleonic Era, the Napoleonic Wars (including their impact on French and European society).

Professor Connelly is the author of ten books, including Napoleon's Satellite Kingdoms, Third Ed. (1990); The French Revolution and Napoleonic Era,Third Edition (1999); On War and Leadership: The Words of Combat Commanders from Frederick the Great to Norman Schwarzkopf (2002), paperback, 2005; Blundering to Glory: Napoleon's Military Campaigns, Third Edition (2006); and The Wars of the French Revolution and Napoleon (2006).

Current Activities

I am working on a popular history of Napoleon's War in Italy (1796-97), played against the tenuous marriage of Napoleon and Josephine. The tentative title is "Napoleon's War and Josephine's Choices".
