PUBLIC HISTORY ---- Registering for classes
Once you have been accepted into the Public History Program, it is important that you contact
your faculty advisor for advice on what courses to take. All incoming Public History students are
required to take History 788 in the fall, and you will enroll in one or two other courses. Students
with graduate assistantships may take as few as six credits (two courses). Note that some courses
are offered once a year while others are offered once every three semesters or once every two
years, so it is often advisable to take a course when you see it offered. And enrollment in some
of the traditional history seminars fills up quickly, so you are wise to register early in the summer
after you are accepted. Contact your advisor to help you plan a program of study suited to your
needs.
