PUBLIC HISTORY ---- Kasey Grier enriches museum and material culture curriculum

Kasey Grier has so far added two new graduate courses to the Public History curriculum: History 787 (Introduction to Material Culture Studies) and History 781 (History and Theory of Museums). History 787 received a preliminary run as an experimental course in Spring 1999, and it will again be offered in Fall 2000. History 781, which Professor Grier taught at the University of Utah, will debut here in South Carolina in Spring 2001. In the works for the 2001-02 academic year are a second run of her "Special Topics" reading seminar on the history of housing in the United States and an experimental course on virtual exhibitions and museums on the Web.
