Student Exchange

Over 120 USC history students have studied at the University of Warwick since the exchange was created in 1966. A group of these students created the Warwick Alumni Association to commemorate the fortieth anniversary by ensuring that the program remains strong in the decades ahead. Alumni volunteers help with the recruitment of Warwick scholars by offering information and encouragement to potential applicants. They talk about the value of their Warwick experiences at the annual information session in January, participate in the selection interviews with applicants in March, offer advice and support for USC students before they depart for Warwick in August, and welcome Warwick students from Britain to South Carolina.

The History Department has always offered students selected for the program a stipend to offset the costs of traveling to Britain. The stipend ensures that all students, regardless of financial need, can participate in the program. The Warwick Alumni Association used the fortieth anniversary to kick off a multi-year fundraising campaign to create an endowment for the Warwick Exchange Program. Many alumni have made generous donations in the past to support individual travel stipends. With this campaign our goal is to establish a Warwick Scholars Fund totaling $100,000 that will support our current students and sustain the program well into the future. The interest from the endowment will fund travel stipends for USC students and ensure that all students have access to the program.
