Student Grants and Awards:
WIIAS
International Experience Award.

purpose: to fund student research and study into
international and cross-cultural issues. It is expected that most awards will
fund international travel, but proposals that make a strong case for other
uses will also be considered

eligibility: both undergraduates and graduate
students who have a well-formulated research or study abroad proposal
-
awards will not normally exceed $1,000 [in
reimbursable expenses for travel and other pre-approved expenses as specified
in the project proposal], but especially meritorious proposals exceeding this
amount may be considered

special consideration will be given to
projects that involve use of a foreign language and to students not eligible
for a Ceny Walker Graduate Fellowship
Ceny
Walker Undergraduate Fellowship.

purpose: to defray the costs of travel tuition and
books for the academic year

eligibility: awarded to a rising senior in any
department who is a full-time student who
maintains a 3.0 or above overall grade point average, and whose major program
of studies and/or career plan demonstrates a commitment to international
study or activities.

Students who already possess a full-tuition
scholarship are not eligible.

Maximum award: $2,500 for academic year, $1,500 for
one semester or summer.
Ceny
Walker Graduate Research Fellowship.

purpose: to fund field research conducted
outside of South Carolina and/or the
United States
-
eligibility: awarded to a Ph.D. or M.A.
candidate in a graduate degree program whose dissertation or thesis requires field research
outside of South Carolina and/or the United States, who will have completed
all degree requirements except the dissertation or thesis prior to the time
the field research is to be undertaken, and whose program of study and
research plans demonstrate a commitment to excellence in international
affairs.
