Graduate Students in LINGuistics
What is GSLING?
GSLING is our student-run organization dedicated to enhancing the academic, professional, and social experience of graduate students in the Linguistics Program. We are an active group with many opportunities to get involved, including:
- Professional Development Workshops (PDWs), where our veteran students and Linguistics faculty share their experiences and advice on topics such as CV preparation and getting published in academic journals;
- Specialized reading groups, where students and faculty with common interests meet to workshop their research with one another, prepare for conference presentations, and discuss current trends in their discipline;
- An annual Spring Colloquium, at which students present their current research to their colleagues in a formal conference atmosphere;
- Social outings such as our monthly "First Fridays," winter holiday party, and spring picnic
We also have a lively Linguistics Graduate Student Lounge (HUO 612) that serves as our day-to-day communal, student workplace, and space for our monthly GSLING meeting.
