McKissick Museum provides a wonderful opportunity for scholars, researchers special interest groups, and individuals to learn more about South Carolina's traditional arts and heritage through its publications, exhibitions and collections in the state and regional craft culture. The collections hold historical and contemporary objects in the areas of basketry, pottery, quilts and other needleworks, and a variety of utilitarian items that are now considered artistry. Tours of the exhibitions at McKissick are self-guided, however, groups larger than 10 members should call 777-7251 to make a reservation at least two weeks in advance. If one is requested in advance and based upon their availability, a tour guide for your visit can possibly be arranged.
