Curator's Choice Lecture Series
Third Thursday of the month, February - April 2012 - 12 PM
Graniteville Room, Thomas Cooper Library
This spring, McKissick Museum will host a Curator's Choice lecture series in the Graniteville Room at Thomas Cooper Library. Each month one of the Museum's curators will speak about his or her current research projects. Objects will be pulled from the permanent collection for this informal show and tell. Bring a brown bag and join us to learn more about often unseen holdings and how they relate to the University. All three lectures will begin at 12:00 pm. Lecture dates are:
February 16: Jill Koverman, Chief Curator of Collections and Research
Koverman shares her expertise on pottery from the Southeastern United States in a talk entitled "Unearthing Clay: Delving into the Ceramic Collections of McKissick Museum."
March 15: Saddler Taylor, Chief Curator of Folklife and Fieldwork
"Enjoyin' the Shade: A South Carolina BBQ Primer" will update audiences about Taylor's recent fieldwork, the research and documentation from which will be included in an upcoming book.
April 19: Dr. Lana Burgess, Faculty Curator, and Director, Museum Management Program
Burgess will present "McKissick Museum at the Core of the University of South Carolina's Curriculum" discussing recent projects that support the initiative USC Connect: Integrating Learning Within and Beyond the Classroom.
