20TH CENTURY PHILOSOPHERS I HAVE KNOWN (OR AT LEAST SPOKEN WITH OR SEEN)

Rosamond Sprague
Department of Philosophy
USC Columbia

April 3, 2009
Friday, 4:00pm-5:30pm
Byrnes 413

This promises to be a very special event of oral history right here in our Philosophy Department. Professor Sprague, who received her PhD in 1953 and has been with our department since 1965, has offered to make an informal presentation entitled "20th Century Philosophers I have Known (or at least spoken with or seen)." The idea is for Professor Sprague to share stories of her encounters with various philosophers over her long career, with a focus on those who took part in the meetings of the Fullerton Club during her days at Bryn Mawr. She asked that I not advertise the names of those she'll be discussing — she didn't want to spoil any surprises nor raise any expectations — but I will say that you have heard of (or should have heard of) these people. This will be a relaxed gathering on Friday, April 3rd, at 4:00pm. We'll have it in our conference room, Byrnes 413. There will be some food and some beverage and a rare opportunity to hear about what some important philosophers were like in person.
