A. J. Barghothi is a doctoral candidate.  His research interests include comparative state-level politics, legislative behavior and elections as well as judicial politics.  A. J. received a B.A. in history in 1995 and a M.A. in political science in 1997, both from Appalachian State University.  Before enrolling in the doctoral program at the University of South Carolina, A. J. served as the town manager in Troutman, NC.
