Michael Renalds received his undergraduate degree in international studies from Virgina Tech and an MA in international studies from the University of South Carolina.  His is currently a doctoral candidate (ABD) in the Department of Political Science at the University of South Carolina.  His research interests include East Asian politics and international relations, cross-Taiwan Strait relations, the domestic politics of China and Taiwan, and the politics of nationalism and national identity

Mr. Renalds was formerly a research assistant for the University of South Carolina's Center for Asian Studies and is now the president of a research administration consultancy, International Solutions, Inc. of Prosperity, SC.  He has previously resided in Europe and Asia and currently lives in Northern Virginia.
